a MODern snow storm...

For my very first blog entry, I wanted to use one of my favorite vintage dresses as inspiration.
This tangerine and gold Paris Tricosa gem is straight out of the 1960's, and from the psychedelic Op art print we can presume that it is definitely MOD

Op Art, also known as optical art, is a style of visual art that makes use of optical illusions.

I recently moved from Los Angeles to a quiet town in the mountains above it, and when we had our first snow storm I was the first one to run outside and soak up the magestic beauty of it all. And what could be a better backdrop to this bright, screaming print? I loved the contrast.

Because of the length on the dress, I believe it to be from the early 60s, which would've had some hippie influence.
So, I added a little hippie flair by tying the waist band around my head, adding a thick leather belt, and topping it off with a long pendant and some bangles.

What I love about the early 60s, is the transitioning from the hippie style into a more psychedelic, new age, 'modern' look with bright colors, loud Op art, geometric prints, and even some sparkle.
